Took a couple of weeks of experimenting but: issue SOLVED! Turned out I overlooked an error in the Operate on X, X= expression: What should always have been (X-$X(1;1))*24 somehow once was entered as (X-$X(1;1))/24 ... divide by 24 instead of multiply with 24. This happens when reusing expressions f...

So DPlot does not (, is supposed to) convert anything when choosing/ switching to a different format? The time formats are just there for the sake of display options while the actual source data is supposed to have the right format in the first place? I always was confused about this as setting a di...

Hi David,
Have you read my posts (same topic) in the questions/suggestions section?
Not having received any replies I thought perhaps you were away for a while but I just noticed you having replied to a bug report.

Hi David, Does, or rather: is it supposed that changing Number Format involves actual convertion of data or is it simply telling DPlot how to display the labels on the x-axis? With the time scale being messed up when changing number format I start to get the impression DPlot is not converting anythi...

Hi David, I'm really confused. The bug in my previous post is messing things up but apart from that I really can't see the logic of x-axis date and time values when setting different Number formats. The test file I used is uploaded to https:www.romus.nl/temp/Number-format-test.grf • Ope...

Hi David, It seems I ran into a bug when Dplot converts date format x-values: the following screendump will be self-explanatory: www.romus.nl/dump/DPlot-Date_conversion_bug.jpg However, I am not sure if it is a serious bug. The thing is that I wanted to convert a data set to elapsed time based on ho...

Browse data files preview feature request
Hi David, When opening a multiple column data file a dialog shows up with some previewed data and the question which columns to plot and which to use as x-axis. It would be very convenient to have a tool in DPlot for browsing raw data files with 'instant' GRAPH preview: When in a dialog prior to bro...

Hi David, More characters would be useful in theory. However, Wingdings contains a lot of off-topic characters (for plotting graphs). How comes only Symbol and Wingdings 1,2,3 are supported and not any symbol font or rather any font? Fonts may contain 6500+ characters: character numbers 0 to 10FFF0....

Legend/Labels dialog: one set of symbols?
Hi, 1) In the Legend/Labels dialog there's an 'alpha' button to add symbols but clicking on that button a dialog shows up offering only a single fixed set of symbols. I remember in the past copy-paste through the Windows Character map dialog didn't work (other mathematics/physics characters) but whe...

Feature request: date in format day-month-year
Hi,
Currently DPlot supports quite a few date formats but none of them are like day-month-year.
(At least) in the Netherlands the common date format is like 24-5-2017, 24-5-17, 24 mei 2017, 24 mei '17, 24-5, 24 mei
Would be nice if DPlot would feature some of these additional date formats.

Hi David, Ouch! Silly me having overlooked that :-) Was pretty tired when experimenting so that might be an excuse... Almost there after replacing zero days! A graph showed up but with messed up days. Turned out DPlot really wants the import format in m-d-y rather than d-m-y which I initially set in...

Hi David, What do you mean with some variation? If Excel accepts this exact format: m/d/y hh:mm does it mean DPlot understands this combination (single) line of date and time as well (for x-axis scaling)? Sorry; normally I would experiment with this but I chose the easy way of asking: currently my s...

Hi David, Oh, ok; I already suspected recalculations were required. I'll experiment with edit on X later. DPlot is only accepting d-m-y OR hr-min-sec, right? There's no such thing as an all compassing format containing year down to (fractions of) seconds? If the latter is an existing format perhaps ...

Odd date and time format
Hi, Getting me a new Voltcraft CM2024 battery charger with logging options once again I ran into a device using a different time format. This one uses day/hr:min I changed this to day:hr:min at least to let DPlot open the file. Now when playing with date scaling on x-axis it seems DPlot is assuming ...

What do you mean with 'At your convenience...'? Do you need the pasted data for investigation or just for letting you paste the data into a DPlot file and return it to me? As a workaround I created the 'copy' already by reusing the equation in a new DPlot file. The data was calculated and not import...

If you copy a solid lined curve data set and paste it in a new DPlot document the pasted data set is different from the original.
Dutch system so comma is dot and vice versa for numbers.

copy data - paste in new document = corrupted data
Hi, When copying data from a curve with negative and positive x- and y-values the pasted data in a new empty plot is severely corrupted: • all positive x values are incorrect (simply sample numbers instead of x-values). • negative y-values are replaced by zero Yet, the data on the clipboard itse...

DPlot remembering previously entered formulas
Hi, When entering a formula usually a drop-down list is available in which one can select from earlier entered formulas/equations. Very useful feature (time saver as well as for preventing typos in newly entered formulas) but: it can be hard to recognize which formula is which, especially after time...

Plot with two y-axes: which curve which axis
Hi, Would be useful for a plot reader to determine which axis applies to which curve when independent Y-axes are set. Could be done with the text or label tools but those are placed at unpredictable locations in exported plots. There are a couple of possibilities (colors, text) but I'm not sure what...

More on hard to read
Hi, Earlier I pointed out that when entering formula's in e.g. Y=f(x) curve generations the characters are hard to read and prone for typing or overlooking typo errors. Now I noticed the same with mouse-over the curve to see sample info: a minus sign is due to its minimal size so easily overlooked. ...

Colors dialog not behaving properly
When setting colors in the color dialog I noticed some odd behavior:
- When entering color numbers the color box should update its color. This is not working for the option 'minor grid'
- 'Restore defaults' seems not doing anything

I think the following feature was already requested for in the past but I'm not sure:
It would look better if reference lines are drawn behind the curves.

Reorder curves and legend
Hi, When reordering curves usually one plans to have the main curve drawn over the other curves. Yet, the curve being drawn over the other curves (bottom one in the reorder curves list) is the last mentioned in the legend (uhh... at the bottom). No idea how others feel about this but I prefer the mo...
